Hatila Valley National Park: Artvin's Hidden Paradise
Hatila Valley National Park is a natural wonder located 10 kilometers from Artvin city center, encompassing Hatila Creek and many side streams. Declared a national park in 1994, this region attracts attention with its 17,000 hectare area.
Geological and Geomorphological Features:
The characteristic structure of the valley is determined by the rock types that are the product of deep volcanism and the V-type young valley formation. Slope fractures and deep crevices have caused the formation of waterfalls and canyons.
Vegetation:
There are 530 plant species in the valley, 85 of which are endemic. The park contains tree species such as spruce, fir, Scots pine, beech, chestnut, linden; shrubs such as rhododendron, blueberry, blackberry; and herbaceous plants such as strawberry and fern.
Wildlife:
The national park is home to mammals such as bear, wolf, fox, wild goat; birds such as mountain rooster, partridge, quail; and various fish and reptile species such as trout, lizard, and snake.
